Coming Up: Another SHIFT pilot in Romania

SHIFT is pleased to announce a 2nd Pilot event in Romania: SHIFT Pilot Târgoviște – Romanian History and Customs Explained to Digital Natives, coordinated by the National Association of Public Librarians and Libraries in Romania (ANBPR), in partnership with the “I.H. Rădulescu” County Library Dâmbovița. The pilot will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the headquarters of the “I.H. Rădulescu” County Library Dâmbovița. It is part of a wider series of pilot-use cases carried out in SHIFT partner countries, with a focus on innovation and inclusion through technology.

This pilot, under the theme “Romanian history and customs explained to digital natives”, will bring to the public’s attention a selection of digital tools and innovative solutions aimed at facilitating access to cultural heritage for libraries, professionals and users, including for people with disabilities (especially people with visual and hearing impairments).

During the event, SHIFT experts will present and demonstrate a series of state-of-the-art technologies, including:

• Voice selection and content classification tools

• Automatic generation of text summaries for improved accessibility

• Solutions that transform photos and paintings into short videos

• Text-to-Speech and Image-to-Speech tools

• Technologies for translating historical meaning into a contemporary language

• AI-supported multimodal storytelling for various categories of users, including vulnerable groups

• Use of affective TTS voices and style transfer tools (adapted for children, seniors, etc.)

The event agenda will also include a session on the exploitation of SHIFT results. Members of the academic community, the local business community and regional authorities will convene in a collaborative framework aimed at encouraging digital inclusion and bringing cultural heritage closer to citizens.

Approximately 40 participants are expected at the event – ​​librarians, users of library services, academics, students, representatives of the entrepreneurial environment and local public authorities.
