On November 5th-6th a team from our consortium partner ANBPR was in Brussels to attend BUILDING BRIDGES: Libraries for a Sustainable Future, an event helt at the European Parliament that brought together over 70 library professionals to discuss the role of libraries in sustainable development, connect with EU policymakers, and explore EU projects and strategies to enhance.
Sabine Verheyen (EP Vice-President ) and Marc Angel (EP Quaestor), co-hosted the event while André Wilkens (Director, European Cultural Foundation) and Georg Häusler (Director of Culture, Creativity and Sport, DG EAC), addressed the participants.
A networking lunch reception allowed librarians to meet Members of the European Parliament from 20 countries and demonstrate how libraries are fundamental agents in building a sustainable future in their communities. In the afternoon, the organisers of the event and representatives from the library sector led a discussion on policy for libraries in Europe.
On the second day, Dragos Neagu presented SHIFT during a morning session held at the Muntpunt Library to promote the exchange of good practices and specific projects.
